This website includes the work of Dylan Ella Rothbein, spanning various mediums such as writing, neurodiversity activism, music, film, and more!
WHAT I STAND FOR I developed an interest in music after hearing Tommy when I was twelve years old, and aspired to be a Rock n Roll and folk musician. I developed an interest in film because as a dyslexic I cannot read and have trouble writing. With film I can show people what life is like for my community, and promote the songs that I have written. I do my activism so that no one has to go through what I went through, while giving a voice to those that don't have one. I lived as an undiagnosed Aspergers until I was diagnosed in a psych ward at age seventeen, giving me an identity, community, culture, and solidarity. Although I am a proud alumni of Andress Children's Center and Summit Nyack, I have lived through a lot of hard things, such as theft, watching good people get hurt, seeing staff, teachers, and social workers be blamed for the behavior of the individuals they served, and seeing them get fired for the wrong reasons. While there is nothing about us without us, there is nothing about us without them, because they are the ones who break down the socially constructed barriers so we can succeed each and every day. Which is why I will never forget what these places did for me, because without them, I would not be where I am today.
